I did not realise that I have been away so long. Well. I am now just over a month into my final year of my degree. It has gone too fast and I have loved nearly every minute of it. I have also gained a new skill, chain maille jewellery making, I will post a few pictures of my bracelets later. They are for sale, just send me which style, wrist size and any colours you like or do not like.

Last week I got to see my costumes come to life in Orbit Theatres production of Shrek the Musical. I created the costumes for the White Rabbit and the Shoe Makers elf. On this production I also got to dress the actors and work backstage in the theatre. This was an amazing experience. The actors and crew of Orbit Theatre company are extremely talented people and I hope to work with them again.
Sorry i have not posted for a long time but I am a bit of a secret squirrel. The current module is creating costumes for a local theatre companies production of Shrek the Musical. When I am allowed I will post pictures of the costumes that I have created.
Until then, here is the link to buy tickets. https://www.newtheatrecardiff.co.uk/what's-on/orbit-theatre-shrek/ The Henry costume finally got handed in on Friday. It has been hard work but it has been worth it. It is based on a design by the award winning designer Sandy Powell for the film The Other Boleyn Girl.
For the first time in what seems months I have time to sit down and blog about what has been going on in the cabin. A few weeks ago I went back to college and it has once again taken over my life. In very much a good way of course. I'm working on three modules at the same time. The image below is a hint at to one thing i will be creating over the next few months. At the same time as this i am busy crafting away for a Christmas Fair for the the charity 2 wish upon a star. I will post the details of the fair closer to the time.
I was determined to get this shawl finished so that i can start on the next projects. But i also have an awards night coming up in September. Both called for a bit of multi tasking. I bought a floor bike that goes under my work table, so i put some videos on you tube, started peddling and knitting. Unfortunately I only managed 15 minutes on the bike before the hip started to play up.
Main thing is i got the shawl finished. 1st of August and its still a lovely warm summer day. Yet here i am at my work station and planning for what i will create and sell for Christmas. Currently i am creating a shawl using rainbow yarn. I started it in pride month so the shawl is going to be called Pride and money from its sale will go to a LGBTQ charity. I am planning on doing some knitted wrist warmers and some more shawls. The rest of the Christmas stock will be made up of cross stitch tree decorations and other little embroidery pieces.
Last night i attended an event with Bafta Cymru, An audience with Lynwyn Brennan. A very insightful night and slightly emotional. When everyone was taking their seats a delightful lady was playing the piano. I got a pit teary when Star Wars songs were played, me being a big Star Wars fan. Listening to this lady talk about working with George Lucas was so cool, especially as she called him just George. I am very much looking forward to the new Star Wars episode 9, which she was not allowed to talk about. One funny comment made was regarding the new Indiana Jones film, or as Lynwyn and the interviewer called him, Jones the dig.
One audience member asked about how she promotes diversity in her company. A very important issue in this day in age. I wish every company was like Lynwyns in which half of manegment are women. |
